Meet the 2025-2026 Language Ambassadors
Meet Alba!
Hi, my name is Alba and I am very excited about the opportunity to join La Ola del Lago as a Language Ambassador next year! I'm from Boceguillas, a small town in the province of Segovia, Spain, and I'm currently in my third year of a degree in Primary Education.
I am a responsible and curious person, always eager to learn and discover new places and people. I consider myself empathetic and hard-working, though also a bit shy. I really enjoy working with children, encouraging teamwork and creating a positive environment where everyone feels included and valued. In my free time, I love reading, listening to music, walking my dogs, playing sports, watching the sunset... But what I enjoy most is spending time with my family and friends - no matter what we're doing. I am sure that this experience will be very enriching and will allow us to learn and grow together. I am looking forward to meeting all the families and sharing unforgettable moments with the students!
Meet Hugo!
I’ve always been curious about life in the United States—especially the education system—because people back home often speak highly of it. I’m really looking forward to seeing how classrooms work here, learning from the amazing teachers and students, and growing both personally and professionally during my time in Minnesota.
Outside of school, I’m a pretty active person—I love going to the gym, boxing, and hanging out with friends. I also enjoy playing video games now and then to unwind. I can’t wait to experience day-to-day life here, meet new people, and get involved in the school and community.
Thanks for welcoming me—I’m excited to learn with you and from you!
Meet Ari Rebeca!
My name is Arodi Rebeca Vigil Cruz, I am 22 years old, and I am currently studying Teaching Degree in English at the Universidad de Oriente. I consider myself a proactive, cheerful, and humble person. I am also very grateful and someone who never gives up, no matter the challenges.
I come from a warm and value-driven family in El Salvador. I was raised in a household where respect, kindness, and strong principles are the foundation of our daily lives. My father is a hardworking man, and my mother is a dedicated homemaker who has always prioritized our well-being and education. I have three siblings: an older brother (25) and two younger siblings (18 and 8). Growing up in a family with different age groups has taught me adaptability, patience, and a deep sense of responsibility. I have learned to care for my younger sibling while also looking up to my older brother for guidance and inspiration. I really love playing soccer, teaching and spending time with children. I also enjoy selling orange juice and food with my family it's something that brings us together and that I truly enjoy. Going to church is also one of the things I enjoy the most. My upbringing has shaped me into a kind, adaptable, and open-minded person. I love meeting new people, embracing different cultures, and learning from every experience. I look forward to becoming part of my host family’s daily life, sharing my Salvadoran culture, and learning from theirs. I am eager to contribute positively to my new environment and make this experience meaningful for both my host family and myself.
Meet Carmen!
I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to join this vibrant school community, connect with students and staff, and share my culture while learning from yours. Being part of La ola del lago is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to begin this journey together. I was born and raised in León, Spain—a historic city I’ve called home all my life. Family has always been a central part of my world. I’m especially close to my parents, grandparents, and younger sister. My passion for movement and expression began early. At six, I started dancing and practicing rhythmic gymnastics. Eventually, I focused on gymnastics and went on to compete in national championships, becoming runner-up in my region, Castilla y León. At seventeen, I transitioned from competitor to coach, earning my certification and teaching young girls ever since. I also returned to dance, which continues to bring me joy.
When I’m not teaching or training, I love reading, dancing, listening to music, watching series and movies, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I’m so grateful to be here and can’t wait to contribute to the incredible learning environment at La ola del lago.
¡Nos vemos pronto!
Meet Laura!
I’m a creative and hardworking person who’s always eager to explore new experiences and ideas. One of my greatest passions is painting—art has been a meaningful part of my life for as long as I can remember. Whether it’s drawing, designing thoughtful gifts, or crafting interactive projects for students, I love using creativity to connect with others. During my recent teaching practicum, I created handmade bookmarks and even built a miniature mailbox inspired by Spain’s national postal service to make learning more fun and engaging for my students. I also love to cook! My family, especially my mom, are incredibly important to me. While I enjoy creative expression, I also really value peace, quiet, and balance. I believe that calm and curiosity can go hand in hand—and I always try to bring both into the classroom. Earlier this year, I had the incredible opportunity to complete a four-month scholarship program through the Princess of Girona Foundation. It allowed me to live in a different part of Spain, travel to new cities, and even meet the King and Queen of Spain. It was an unforgettable and enriching experience that helped me grow personally and professionally.
I’m truly grateful for the chance to be part of the La ola del lago community, and I look forward to everything this year has in store!
Meet Andrea!
Hello! My name is Andrea, and I’m from El Salvador. I recently earned my bachelor’s degree in English from Universidad Tecnológica de El Salvador. During my time at the university, I worked as a teaching assistant and was also involved in a volunteer program called “English for a Better Future,” where I helped others develop their language skills. I’m also a preschool server at my church, which has strengthened my love for working with children.
I come from a close-knit family that includes my mom, dad, and younger sister. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, watching series, reading short stories, taking pictures, and spending time with my family, friends, and my pet. I love being active in my community and finding ways to connect with others through service and education.
I’m so excited to be part of the Language Ambassador program at La ola del lago. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to share my culture, grow professionally, and build meaningful connections with students, staff, and host families. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I teach and making the most of this incredible experience.
